DIY Sand Bucket Kids

DIY Sand Bucket Kids

Aren’t these Sand Bucket Kids adorable?!

They’re great to display at any child’s “Under the Sea”  or “Beach” themed party, and the cool part about them is that you can personalize each sand bucket kid to whoever you want to spotlight!  It’s so much fun to see the special birthday girl or boy light up when they see their own face all decked out in their swimming gear!

…and who’s to say this is only great for kids?  I know some grown up kids that would get a kick out of their own personalized Sand Bucket Adults! 🙂

Tutorial:

Tools & Supplies:

  1. A kid’s swim set that includes a mask, snorkel, and flippers (I bought these as a set at the Dollar General store).
  2. One sand bucket (they usually come with a shovel but I didn’t use it) I bought my bucket at Dollar Tree.
  3. One cut out pic of a child’s face

This is how it all should look with the packages open.

Directions:

Making the Faces:

First, I had the kids face me while I snapped a pic.

I then had the pics blown up to life-size so that they would fit the mask and snorkel.  (Although you can probably do this on your own printer, I went to Kinko’s and had them blow the pics up for me)

I then cut the faces out with scissors. At this point you can choose to laminate the faces (like I did) or not.

As you can see, the mask fits perfectly!

Assembly:

Place the bucket upside down while flipping the handle to the back.  Then remove the little shovel.

Attach the mask to the snorkel.

Hold the kid’s face pic up against the bucket, while sliding the mask onto the bucket and over the face.  The back of the mask strap should be tight enough to hold everything in place.

Now place the flippers in front of the bucket and these Sand Bucket Kids are ready to go!

Aren’t the the cutest ever??
