There’s nothing like the sound of sleigh bells around the holiday season. I’ve hung these from doorknobs, laid them across mantels or a snow-covered piles of wood…I even put them on my horses when I go out on sleigh rides…it’s the best sound you’ll ever hear!
Tools & Supplies:
- Old belt (I found mine at the thrift store)
- A long leather cord (you can use a leather shoelace or buy cord at the craft store)
- Leather hole punch or a hand drill with bits
I cut my belt a little shorter to the length I needed it for, but you can use the whole belt if you prefer
With your hole punch (or hand drill), make holes where you want your bells
Thread the cord through the leather
Tie a knot in the cord on the backside of the belt
Slide a bell onto the cord on the front side of the belt
Now thread the cord back through the same hole
Pull tight and thread the cord through the next hole, continuing as before
When you’re finished it should all look like this. Make sure the cord is tight in-between all the bells to prevent them from sagging. Sometimes the cord can stretch a little so I go back and double check in-between all the bells before finishing.
Tie a knot in the end of the cord and clip off the excess
