Miniature Peter Rabbit Easter Village

Miniature Peter Rabbit Easter Village

Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail.  This charming little Easter village depicts an adorable miniature Easter Egg Hunt with Peter Rabbit and all his garden friends.  Let’s go and join in on the fun!

It looks like the Egg Hunt is underway and many of Peter’s friends already have many eggs in their baskets.

Mrs. Squirrel is busy serving cupcakes while baby squirrel investigates the remains of a nut shell.

Mother Bunny and her babies seem to be enjoying some fresh lettuce in the garden.

Peter Rabbit is busy picking carrots from the carrot patch  to share with all his friends, while Mrs. Rabbit checks out one of the prize eggs she has just found.

Flopsy  is setting down a potted plant gift for  their neighbor, Jemima Puddle Duck while Mopsy is  looking for eggs in her flower garden.

Cottontail is searching for eggs around Mrs. Tiggywinkle’s house.

I think she should check in the hen house, don’t you?

Many of Peter’s friends have met at the playground by the little stream.

I see Mrs. Puddle Duck and her babies swimming in the stream by the waterfall.  Can you see them?

They look like they’re all having a good time, don’t you think?

Miniature Peter Rabbit Easter Village – Tutorial

Instructions:

Table Top Base

You can either set up your village on a regular table top, or you can make a platform like I did, as it made the perfect table top for the display.  Because it’s flat, I can easily hide the platform after season, against the wall in a closet or just about anywhere else.

To make the platform, I screwed 10 picket fence planks together with 3 bottom braces.  The dimensions of my table top is 35in x 55in.

Then I gave it an old look by staining it with my DIY Old Wood Stain.

I actually placed the platform on my living room table to set up the village, then carried  it (with 2 people) to the area that I wanted it.

For the tiered areas of the village, I used a wooden crate and other various pieces of wood that I stacked onto each other.  I also stained all the wood to look old with my DIY Old Wood Stain).

I cut pieces of moss mat to the desired sizes for the grass, and placed it onto the tiered areas.

Figurines

Honestly, you can get Easter miniature figurines just about anywhere during the season.  The figurines I used were not part of a set, as I bought them all separately in different places.  Most were bought at JoAnns and the rest were bought at Micheal’s when they were marked down at 50-80% off.  Amazon, Etzy, and Ebay have a great selection also.  I tried finding figurines that were all about the same size so they would go together better.

Village Houses

The village houses are simply miniature woodland fairy houses found at JoAnns bought after season when they were marked down at 80% off.  I bought the fences at that time as well.  You can also find a great selection of these houses on Amazon, Etzy, and Ebay.

To make them more “Easter-y,” I hot-glued spring-colored flowers to the houses trimmed from bouquets with tiny-looking flowers.

Tiny Easter Eggs

The tiny Easter eggs that you can see hidden all through the village came from Pip Berry Picks found HERE.  I couldn’t find tiny eggs that were cheap and affordable so I made my own by simply snipping off the pip berries with some scissors.  Instant Easter eggs!

Stream & Waterfall

Using cardboard from a cereal box, I cut out the shape of my stream.

I glued blue crushed glass (found at Michael’s) onto the cardboard with Elmer’s glue and let it all dry.  My stream dried stiff and held up nicely.

For the waterfall I used a hot glue gun and squirt out some beads of glue in a row, onto some cellophane.  I made sure to make it the length and width that I wanted my waterfall.

After it was cool I peeled it off the cellophane, trimmed it up to size with some scissors, and placed it in it’s spot.  Last, I lined the stream with pebbles I found outside.

I hope this inspires you to make one of your own!

Happy Easter!

This is so adorable and amazing, Tee! My grandkids would go NUTS over this! This is reminiscent of my mom’s Christmas village that she actually allowed my children to play with. They were always careful and the village was always safe at the end of the season. Great memories for my kids! Thanks for sharing at Homestyle Gathering!
