DIY Mini Burlap Patriotic Flag Banner

DIY Mini Burlap Flag Banner

This cute little patriotic flag banner is the perfect addition to your Fourth of July decor.  Since it is a small banner, you can add it to almost any place in your room. Even better….this banner can be completed in less than 30 minutes because these burlap flags are pre-made! If you can’t find these specific flags, you can use any other type of flag.

This awesome, vintage-looking banner looked great on my porch for Independence Day and I am so excited how it turned out!  I love how the American flags are made out of rustic-looking burlap which definitely gives the banner an ‘old’ look (I bought these flags at Micheals really cheap during the season).  This project can be a ‘sew’ or a ‘no sew’ one if you’ve got either a hot glue gun or a sewing machine.  WOOT!

So without further ado, here’s how I made it.

 Tutorial

Tools:

  • Scissors
  • Sewing machine or hot glue gun (to attach flags)

Supplies:

  • Small burlap American flags bought at the craft store (approx. 6×4 inches) I bought mine during 4th of July season at Michael’s really cheap, but if you can’t find them you can order them HERE
  • Jute string
  • Patriotic ribbon of your choice

Directions:

These are the flags in the packaging.

The flag was originally hot glued onto the stick so I simply peeled it apart and pulled the stick off

Lay the string along the edge of the margin at the top

Fold the flap over the string

Next, secure the flap down, either with a sewing machine, or a hot glue gun.  I like sliding my flags around for adjusting, so I make sure to stay away from the string so as not to sew it permanently to the flag.

Now just tie some patriotic-colored ribbon in-between the flags and you’re done!

Wishing you all a very Happy 4th of July!
